The FEMtech internships for female students aim to attract young female scientists for careers in applied research in the scientific and technical R&D sector (Research, Technology, and Innovation).

Your tasks

Assess the size of new potential markets for Kern Tec on the fruit kernel segment outside Europe and Central Asia (Market Sizing and mapping of the potential per country) with a strong focus on scientific data analysis and research methodologies.
Identify new potential suppliers of raw material for Kern Tec’s products on these markets and get in direct contact with them. Incorporate research methods to identify and evaluate new supply sources.
Critical assessment of the raw material qualities with production and product development incorporating scientific analysis methods and research on material quality and sustainability.
Support strengthening Kern Tec supplier’s network and building its supply-chain by contributing to strategic projects integrating research and development perspectives.

Inspired by agriculture and the circular economy

Kern Tec is a B2B ingredient company specializing in the innovative production of food industry products using underutilized resources from the fruit industry, specifically apricot, cherry, and plum pits. In Europe, fruit pits are typically considered waste, particularly within the juice industry. However, these largely untapped resources possess significant potential due to their valuable proteins and fats. At Kern Tec, we employ a washing and drying process to separate the seeds and shells, unlocking their full potential. We then create compounds (sirups) for sustainable plant based dairy alternatives, spreads and more sustainable consumer products. Continuous innovation allows us to maintain our zero-waste philosophy.

Your profile

Currently in late Bachelor or Master curriculum with focus in supply chain management, bioresource management, food technology or similar disciplines
Structured and autonomous way of working
Team Player
Ability to work with numbers and data supported by knowledge in statistical analysis, data science, or related research methodologies.
Communication skills
Languages are a plus (english mandatory)
